Dear MISD Community,
Montgomery ISD has recently received the Texas Education Agency 2008 ratings for the campuses and district. The individual campus ratings are very impressive and are listed below:

Overall the Montgomery Independent School District TAKS results from this year as compared to last year are as follows:

The rating for Montgomery ISD is Academically Acceptable. MISD missed the Recognized rating by the slimmest of margins. The failure of one single student’s test score was enough to keep the entire district from achieving the overall status of Recognized.
The state accountability system is complex and determines a rating based on the lowest indicator score thus in essence disregarding the rest of the scores-no matter how high!
The Texas Education Agency disaggregates TAKS scores into smaller clusters to better examine how individual student groups are performing within the larger population. The additional groups include all students tested, ethnicity groups and those students eligible for free or reduced meals. Some of these groups in MISD vary in size from less than 30 students to as many as over 3,600 students. In these small groups, we know mathematically that just a few students have significant impact on the overall percent passing rate of that student cluster.
Montgomery ISD will continue improvement efforts in all areas but will particularly focus on each and every student in the science area throughout the year. MISD has amazingly talented students, dedicated teachers and administrators. The goal for MISD is to regain the Recognized rating and then aim for the Exemplary rating.
The MISD Board of Trustees is understandably pleased and proud of the performance of our students. The Board recognizes the concerted effort of the MISD staff members and the hard work of the students. With the support of parents and other family and community members, our schools are great places for students and staff to work, learn, and grow. GO BEARS!

As you can see from the following chart MISD TAKS performance for the last three years continues to make remarkable progress. Our of the 27 grades and subjects listed only 4 were below 90%.In addition, MISD continues to perform well above state averages by as many as 28 points.
